Regulations

The International Rotary Maths Festival is organized by Rotary Club Bourgas, with the support of High School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences “Acad. Nikola Obreshkov” – Bourgas, Bulgaria, the Union of Bulgarian Mathematicians – Burgas Section, and the Municipality of Burgas.

The event aims to bring together students from different countries and regions for competition, knowledge exchange, and cultural friendship.

Competition Format

The competition is held in two rounds:

First Round (Local):
  • Organized in each city/town by the respective Rotary Club/partner organization.
  • Takes place on 25 October 2025.
  • Each club organizes the local competition and sends the results to Rotary Club Bourgas no later than 30 November 2025.

Second Round (Final):
  • Held in person in Bourgas in March/April 2026.
  • The best participants from each local round qualify for the final.
  • The final is accompanied by a cultural and social program.

Participants

Students from Grades 1 to 8, divided into the following groups:
  • Group 1 – Grade 1
  • Group 2 – Grade 2
  • Group 3 – Grade 3
  • Group 4 – Grade 4
  • Group 5 – Grade 5
  • Group 6 – Grade 6
  • Group 7 – Grade 7
  • Group 8 – Grade 8

Students from Grades 1 and 2 will participate demonstratively but with official ranking.
For mathematics high schools, there will be an additional special ranking.

Duration and Tasks

Duration: 2 astronomical hours.

Tasks: 15 problems, varying in type and difficulty:

8 multiple-choice problems;

5 open-answer problems;

2 descriptive problems requiring full solutions.

Languages: Bulgarian and English.
